LKHH Memorial Museum

Lau King Howe Hospital was built in 1931 and completed 1936 at a cost of Dollars 82,000. The original plan had four blocks of buildings, Steward Ward, Brooke Ward, Second Class Ward and X-Ray/ Physiotherapy unit.

Exhibitions

The Lau King Howe Hospital Memorial Museum proudly showcases Sibu’s medical history through our unique collection of vintage exhibits. Visitors can view old nurses’ uniforms, track the evolution of the nursing curriculum, and explore historical equipment used in surgical, dental, intensive care, and obstetric services.

Old Dental Equipment

The foundation for the oral health services in Sibu was laid when a dental clinic was established at the outpatient department of Lau King Howe (LKH) Hospital in 1958.

Obstetric Services

Labour room started with two beds and by the mid 60’s was extended to accommodate five beds and new post-natal ward and nursery. Most mothers presented in the later stage of labour in the early days.
